Swim to Fight Cancer The Hague
The first edition of the Swim to Fight Cancer in The Hague is already a great success. In the meantime, nearly 125 participants and nearly 20 teams have registered for the Swim on September 14 a.s. Together, these fighters have already raised more than 50,000 euros from their sponsors. I can also tell you that Tommy Beugelsdijk from ADO Den Haag will act as a team coach for the Junior Swim during the event. He thinks the Swim is a great initiative in The Hague and would like to do something for this. Just like TV presenter Dennis Weening who also coaches the Junior Swim. We are of course very happy with their help and there will soon be more well-known people from The Hague to be announced!
There is also a team actively recruiting children for the Junior Swim. Meanwhile, several Junior teams have signed up, including teams from various Hague Schools: the Duinoord School, OBS Benoordenhout, OBS Bohemen Kijkduin and Nutsschool Sorgvliet, HSV, Wolters and Willem de Zwijgerschool.
It is the first time that such a swimming event is being held in the canals of The Hague. The colleagues of DSB (Urban Management Department) have taken water samples at 16 points in recent weeks with good results. The water quality has been tested and approved.

Swim to Fight Cancer The Hague
In just2 months from now, hundreds of Hagenaars and Hagenezen, young people, expats, business teams and kids will jump into the canal on the Veenkade to swim together against cancer. An event that, in addition to the sporting element, primarily aims to raise as much money as possible for Fight Cancer. And that is why the organization, which consists entirely of volunteers, makes an appeal today to every person from The Hague: join in, donate or sponsor this great event!
Ambassador Dominique van Vliet
Dominique van Vliet: breed Hagenaar, former actress, but above all the mother of a daughter who has had cancer, was presented today as ambassador. She shared her personal story about how cancer can turn a family upside down. In the coming months, Dominique will be working completely selflessly, with unprecedented enthusiasm, to make the event a resounding success.
The goal is of course to reach as many participants as possible for the event. That is why there are different swims. For the real sports enthusiasts there is a large swim of 2,000 meters, for swimmers who find it a bit too enthusiastic there is a small swim of 1,250 meters and for kids between 10 and 15 years there is a junior swim of 500 meters. In addition, it is possible to register as a friend or business team and participate in the small or large swim.
You can participate in the event as a team or as an individual swimmer. The one-time registration fee is € 25 for children and for adults € 75 with this money, the organization finances the event. In addition, each participant is challenged to make an effort to raise money in their own (friends) network. The minimum target amount for children is € 100 and for adults € 250. To get that done, each participant gets their own action page that you can fill with photos and text.
