Meet a master of modern Dutch jewellery, David Aardewerk. Nestled in the heart of the old town, just around the corner from the Royal Palace, you can find the charming shop of Rocks and Clocks.
David was born into a lineage of four generations of diamond cutters and fine antique and jewellery dealers. His grandparents owned an exclusive high end antique and jewellery shop. At the age of 14, David was already learning the trade, apprenticing with the family’s goldsmith. This is where he learned hands-on, about the details of fine jewellery making.
His drive to design lead him to become an architect designing buildings. For 20 years he ran a successful architectural firm, however his childhood passion brought him back to his first love, jewellery. This became the ideal medium for David to combine and express his talents as a designer.
Today Rocks and Clocks produces an exclusive line of diamond and gemstone jewellery, named 2LIPS. The rich history of the Dutch tulip, worth more than its weight in gold in the 17th century, inspired him to design this innovative Jewelry line.
The name 2LIPS refers to both the tulip and two pairs of lips, because the setting of the diamonds resemble the shape of the tulip and since diamonds are the ultimate gift of love.
In addition, Rocks and Clocks offers an extensive collection of vintage and antique jewels and watches. In this shop you can find vintage pieces by houses like Cartier & Tiffany and fine watches by brands like Rolex and Jaeger leCoultre.
