National Clean Up Day 2020 - Rescheduled!

New date on Saturday September 19 for World Cleanup Day by the Plastic Soup Foundation.

The National Cleaning Day will be moved to the autumn this year. The organization previously announced that it would cancel the edition, which was scheduled for Saturday March 21, in connection with all developments surrounding the coronavirus. On Saturday 19 September, which is also World Cleanup Day, the whole of the Netherlands will still be called on to go outside and clean up litter together.

The Landelijk Opschoondag is the perfect time for residents, entrepreneurs, associations, sports clubs and schools to take action together and to make their living environment 100% litter-free. “It is a day that fraternizes and brings people together,” said Helene van Zutphen, director of initiator NederlandSchoon. “Because meeting is not recommended by RIVM for the time being, we have decided to move the National Cleanup Day and to coincide appropriately with World Cleanup Day on Saturday 19 September, a special and important initiative of the Plastic Soup Foundation. After all, we share the same goal: to make our environment free of litter. Let’s go into autumn together this year. ”

Nothing changes except the date change. Residents, entrepreneurs, associations, sports clubs, schools and other organizations are now called in the autumn to collect litter together.

About NederlandSchoon

A Netherlands free from litter is important for people, animals and the environment. NederlandSchoon has therefore been working intensively with companies, citizens, social organizations and government for 28 years to tackle litter and ensure that a clean environment becomes and remains the norm. By means of research, collaborations, sharing knowledge and giving advice, not only more awareness is created, but also a shared sense of responsibility. An example of this approach is Supporter van Schoon, a national initiative that unites and activates people to make a bigger fist against litter. This year the National Clean Day is organized for the 18th time.
