Online Rotterdam Port Days 2020
There is good news for all Wereldhavendagen fans, because this year we are still celebrating the port of Rotterdam. Together with our sponsors, partners and participants from the port and the city, we will put the port of Rotterdam in the spotlight in the first weekend of September!
Port Stories 2020
In 2020, the World Port Days have planned a number of online elements under the name ‘Port Stories 2020’, as well as a physical program for schools and a photo exhibition in the city. We are bringing the port to the people this year. The education program ‘The port is coming to you!’ Will start on Friday 4 September. On Saturday September 5 it is Digital Port Day!
Digital Port Day 5 September
During the Digital Port Day on Saturday 5 September, there will be plenty of attention for the port of Rotterdam. Via the website and social media of the World Port Days and various media partners you get a glimpse into the past, present and future of the World Port Days and the port of Rotterdam through photos, videos and vlogs. A selection of what will be shown: highlights of the nautical demonstrations and evening shows from previous editions, interviews with participants, vlogs of special (ship) visits and images from the ‘Friends of the World Port Days’. There are also various giveaways that you can participate in.
Photo exhibition at the Maritime Museum
The World Port Days will also be visible in the city. From Tuesday 1 to Friday 11 September, a photo exhibition with the most beautiful images of 42 World Port Days editions – ‘In the picture’ at the Maritime Museum – can be seen on the outside facade of the Maritime Museum. Via QR codes, a number of photos can activate videos on your mobile and augmented reality will make the exhibition come to life even more. Thanks to the Maritime Museum who made the outer facade available for this.
Now that students cannot come to the World Port Days, we are bringing the port to the schools! We provide guest lessons and port experiences and offer teaching packages. The starting moment of this education program ‘The port is coming to you!’ Is on Friday 4 September. But also the following week we want to offer the students the opportunity to get to know the port in this way. This program focuses on primary and secondary education.
Port Stories Live
Together with educational partner Hogeschool Inholland Rotterdam, a program is being developed by HBO students in which they will be making radio on 4 and 5 September. There is plenty of attention for the port of Rotterdam on its own radio channel – Port Stories Live! Keep an eye on the website and social media. More information about the programming and collaborations will be announced at a later date.
