Music! – from Beethoven to Beyoncé

Hear, make, feel. From 3 October 2020 to 12 September 2021 in the Museon in The Hague: MUSIC! – from Beethoven to Beyoncé. The fanciful exhibition invites you to listen to music, make music and experience music together. Thirty interactive stations take young and old on a musical journey around the world and invite them to actively experience music together.

In the exhibition MUSIC! the history and experience of music is central. Because music fascinates, worldwide and since the first humans populated the earth. Thirty stations invite visitors to listen to music together, make music and feel music. You don’t need to play an instrument or read notes – curiosity about new sounds and experiences is enough to enjoy this original, interactive exhibition.

Discover how music connects or sometimes separates us with other people, how music provides relaxation, helps to express feelings, can change the world or of course is just fun. What would music be without movement? Some pavilions are all about dancing. How does the modern Whip-Dance, MC Hammer in the nineties, the Charleston or a medieval dance feel like? Other stations show the complex workings of our ears and brain. What sounds can we hear and how? The exhibition is of course also about making music and singing. How do you make a pop song? How does your voice sound in a loop or duet during carpool karaoke? And how do you score at a drum match?

A special pavilion is dedicated to the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. Exclusive to MUSIC! the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn recorded the second movement of its Ninth Symphony. With the latest 3D recording technology, you experience that music while sitting in the middle of the orchestra.
