The Escher jubilee year comes to a grand close with the atmospheric Christmas production Alice in Escherland. This dance performance is about Alice's surreal adventures, set in the wonderful landscapes of artist and graphic artist M.C. Escher.
After the overwhelming success in 2016 and 2018, The Dutch Don't Dance Division is now working on a special edition in which optical illusions, symmetry and fantasy are featured in both set and costumes and come to life in the choreographies. This famous story by Lewis Caroll, is danced to music by P.I. Tchaikovsky, composed by Carl Davis. Alice meets several peculiar animals and characters during her journey.
Escher's famous works with peculiar perspectives form the backdrop. Two familiar, absurd worlds melt together in an extraordinary and at the same time natural way. Moreover, not an odd combination: Escher always had a copy of Alice on his bedside table! After 18 years, the Christmas productions of The Dutch Don't Dance Division are a true tradition that can no longer be ignored in The Hague. Immerse yourself in the dazzling world and wonderful adventures of Alice in Escherland in this wintery and festive (family) performance!
