Once upon a time, Andrea, the passionate owner of Palato Restaurant, known for his dedication to fine traditional Italian cuisine, decided to bring a more social reach out touch to the DUINOORD area by transitioning Palato Restaurant into an original Italian cafe concept & Lunch Room which opened its doors in January 2024 .
The love for food and authentic ingredients, put the owner to consider bringing the past traditions into the present by providing a variety of homemade offerings, such as traditional and gluten free cakes, mouthwatering high levitation focaccia, pasta, traditional style cooked vegetables and much more .
The Name ‘’Sfizio’’ translates to ‘’Whim’’ or Fancy’’ in Italian, reflecting the Café’s approach to food and for fresh ingredients
Nestled in the heart of the city, on Valeriustraat 78, 2517 HS, Den Hague, Lo Sfizio Café & Lunch aims to bring a slice of Italian culinary excellence to the vibrant expat community .At the core of Lo Sfizio’ s offerings is its signature is also gold coffee blend, carefully curated to deliver a rich and aromatic experience with every sip. .
Aperitivo and Private Events
As June 2024 approaches, the anticipation grows for the launch of an exciting new addition to Lo Sfizio’ s offerings: the Italian aperitivo concept. Starting from 27th June, guests will have the opportunity to attend a weekly event organised every Thursday starting 18:00, that celebrates the Italian tradition of enjoying pre-dinner bites with a drink of choice. This cultural experience promises to be a delightful way to unwind after a long day, while enjoying the cozy atmosphere .

In addition to the aperitivo evenings, Lo Sfizio is also thrilled to announce that they are now hosting private events with a tailored menu of choice. Whether it's a birthday celebration, a corporate gathering, or a special family reunion, guests can now create unforgettable memories at Lo Sfizio with personalized menus that cater to their specific preferences and dietary needs.
Activities for Community Reach Out
Do you have an idea for a community-social event? Lo Sfizio is more then happy to offer the venue!
Lo Sfizio started off the spring hosting several social events amongst which a contemporary art exhibition on feminism theme as well as a workshop on Artificial Intelligence delivered by different subject matter experts.
Currentely, Lo Sfizio aims at offering a larger range of enriching activities aimed at fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange.
Every Friday afternoon – between 15 and 17:00 hrs, we are aiming at hosting Dutch-speaking conversation classes in small groups combined with child support care for single or just parents who are interested in to attend the class.
Secondly EU-Mission support company specialised in physical security and collaboration with different medical doctor have volunteered to offer on monthly basis starting September 2024, certified First-Aid Training for toddlers and children, which we are happy to host . All these events are tailored to social prices, and they are registration-based events. The dates & times of all the social events will be made public online via the website and social media tools .
