The Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, is considered the absolute cradle of rock and roll. Under the inspiring leadership of Sam Philips, this small studio cum record label managed to acquire worldwide fame. Sam often recorded artists who were boycotted outside Memphis. He discovered B.B. King, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, among others.

Sam did not care about apartheid in America and was wild about the predominantly dark ‘rhythm & blues’. He was looking for innovation in music and mostly recorded artists who were boycotted by mainstream radio stations and record shops outside Memphis. Philips persevered and, as a result, can call himself the discoverer of many musical greats, including B.B. King, Howling Wolf, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Rufus Thomas, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and, last but not least, Elvis Presley.

‘Sun Records – The Concert’ brings the golden days of Sun Records back to life in the theatre. This highly authentically produced production can therefore present itself as the only production in the world with official permission from Sun Records, Memphis, Tennessee. A very talented, young cast sings and plays with verve all the great artists of Sun Records and their corresponding world hits!
