Tom van der zaal (1987 Leidschendam), jazz saxophonist and won several prestigious awards such as the: Prinses Christina Concours, Melkweg Student Jazz Award, De Dordtse Sena Jazzprijs and most recently he was nominated for the finals of the Karel van Eerd Music Award with his most recent project Sketchbook of Dreams.
After spending some time studying in New York, van der Zaal took his masters with a 9.5 plus distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Over the years he has played as a guest soloist on stages in: New York, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Warsaw, Rome, Berlin and shared stages with national and international names such as: Roy Hargrove, Gary Bartz, Greg Hutchinson, Peter Bernstein, Vincent Herring, Peter Beets, Willie Jones, Benjamin Herman and many others.
Especially for the North Sea Jazz Club, Tom and his trio will present new music, supplemented by repertoire from the American Songbook and accompanied by: Matheus Nicolaiewsky on double bass and Joost van Schaik on drums.
