Over 2 years ago, our dear friends Denice Spaans and Frederik Quaedvlieg bought a beautiful piece of land with a run-down house and old hay barn, surrounded by nature, on top of a mountain in Asturias, Spain. The goal: to create an ecological paradise for inspiration, education, and connection with nature. Two years of investing all their savings and working tirelessly resulted in a place that was ready to start hosting groups from 2023 for bushcraft weekends, yoga & meditation weeks, foraging courses, and a silence retreat.
Wildfires
However, last week this dream was abruptly disrupted. 80 deliberately started wildfires spread across northern Spain, causing a trail of immense damage. Casa Mantequeiro Asturias, the dream location of Denice and Frederik, was also affected. Two years of intensive labor and all their savings literally went up in smoke, along with their hope, belief, and desire to welcome their first guests this year and continue building.
The plan
To give Denice and Frederik hope again, we, their family and friends, want to help them. Of course, we will all head that way to help with physical labor, but money is also needed. Money for reinstalling electricity on the property, money for a water system, money for a new guesthouse, money for new sanitary facilities… and so on.
Invitation to the benefit evening
On Monday, April 10, starting at 5:00 PM, we are organizing a benefit evening to raise funds at Beachclub Indigo in Scheveningen.
